Container syndrome can be caused by prolonged time in any baby devices such as car seats, strollers, high chairs, playpens, swings, activity centers, bouncers, jumpers and more. Too much time in any of these “containers'” can impact your baby's development of gross motor milestones, and lead to the flattening of your baby's head, which is called plagiocephaly, or tightness in your baby's neck which is called torticollis.
Limiting time in these baby devices and allowing unrestricted movement can help prevent both! Additionally, allowing babies to move and explore their environment freely is incredibly beneficial for overall development
Safe Places to Put Baby Down
Let’s face it though, you will need a safe place to put the baby down so you can shower, make a meal, help another child, or just take a deep breath.
When you place your baby in a container such as a swing or bouncer, try to limit the time to 15-20 minutes 2x per day. If you need to set your baby down more frequently, try a gated playpen that is within your eyesight. Here are two great options below!

Let's Talk About Hands-Free Containers
Baby carriers and wraps are technically considered “containers” but they also promote bonding and can help calm the baby’s sensory system with tactile input from mom or dad. Below are my favorite baby carriers that support the posture and positioning of both parents and babies!
